In increasing numbers, scientists are employing their right to engage in activism and advocacy in critical areas including climate change and scientific policy. We will discuss the new frontiers awaiting scientists who choose to participate in public advocacy.

CSLDF attorneys will provide tips on how to minimize risk both professionally and personally when conducting research in a developing area of law, as well as the benefits and risks of serving as an expert witness.

Scientists attending AGU24 can meet with CSLDF attorneys for free, 30-minute, one-on-one legal consultations. Join us to discuss issues such as First Amendment matters, employment concerns, strategies for safe-guarding online communications from adverse interests, or any other legal questions or concerns.

Join representatives from Scientist Rebellion, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and CSLDF for an open discussion about scientific neutrality and the career risks of activism. Discussion can go anywhere, from philosophical to practical, depending on interest.

Join CSLDF at the ESA Annual Meeting for sessions on how scientists can safely engage in activism and advocacy, plus free 1:1 legal consultations.
