15 YEARS OF PROTECTING SCIENTISTS

Amidst the ongoing war on scientists by a virulently anti-science administration, we are bringing our 15 years of experience to the fight.

In 15 years of defending climate science, we have never experienced such egregious attacks from forces both within and outside the government. And, with your support, we have never been more galvanized as a community to stand up, fight back, and never give in.

Climate scientists are ready. A growing number are coming to CSLDF for help with their rights to stand up and advocate for science. They are refusing to back down, and we must be there to defend their voices, expertise, and power.

Since the 2024 election, we have been hard at work providing free legal counsel to a record-breaking number of climate researchers. We are seeing new, concerted, and disingenuous legal attacks on academic freedom, and are working to defend and educate researchers across many institutions. We are also ramping up outreach with our free Political Action Toolkit to enable scientists to safely engage in the upcoming midterm elections.

This summer, thanks to a generous group of supporters, every dollar donated will be matched up to $50,000. Please stand with us on the frontlines of the war on science. With your help, we will never give up.

WHY SUPPORT CSLDF?

We are helping more scientists than ever before

72 researchers came to us for free legal help in 2025 – and we are well on our way to breaking that record yet again, having helped dozens of scientists in the first half of 2026.

We track government attempts to silence science

Our revamped Silencing Science Tracker, which contains over 700 government attempts to silence science, is now an even more robust tool for government accountability.

We help scientists understand their rights

As we enter another critical election cycle, many scientists are looking to get involved. Our Political Action Toolkit and other free resources help them know what rights and protections they have when speaking up for science.
