The scrappy attempt to save US climate data

A cadre of researchers and academics is trying to preserve national climate data as the Trump administration disappears thousands of federal datasets and reports…. “It’s critically important that academics and scholars are sort of stepping up to fight back against misinformation,” Chris Marchesano with the nonprofit Climate Science Legal Defense Fund told Chelsea. “It has important legal implications.”

Marchesano pointed to a fact-check created by more than 80 scientists that challenged an Energy Department report filled with inaccuracies about climate change. The administration cited the report to justify its proposal to stop regulating climate pollution — and the fact-check could be used in litigation against that proposal, Marchesano said.
