Augusta Wilson, a CSLDF attorney, is part of a panel at the American Association of Geographers Meeting that will address the many facets of the pandemic that are facing urban areas in the U.S. and around the world. Participants will discuss the following topics:

  • Response timeliness and appropriateness
  • Geographic response to a situation that changes by the hour
  • Marshaling resources
  • Fair and equitable response for a city’s vulnerable populations
  • Temporary residence for those experiencing homelessness or housing uncertainty
  • Repurposing of public and private buildings for pandemic response
  • Other topics as appropriate and if time allows

The panel will contribute as a guide for academic and practicing geographers to organize a response to COVID-19, analyze the responses after the pandemic, and provide a framework for lessons learned and future mitigation and preparation
